Harsh scrubbing can damage kitchen cabinets finish or paint.
It is recommended that you thoroughly clean your cabinets before painting with a sponge and denatured alcohol.
Rinse thoroughly and allow the cabinets to dry before painting.
To make it a bit easier we use brushes that you can attach to a drill or impact driver.
You don t want to have to work harder to sand off all the extra grease on your kitchen cabinets and you don t want to be painting over grease.
To clean grease off kitchen cabinets before you paint them we like to spray down all surfaces with krud kutter then scrub them really well.
Do use a gentle cleaning solution.
Clean them as good as you can getting in all the nooks and crannies.
Wipe down the cabinets with a rag dipped in a mix of straight vinegar or a 1 1 mix of vinegar and warm water with a few drops of liquid dish soap.
No matter the painting occasion this is what i do at the purple painted lady.
I prefer to use dawn dish soap.
It still attacks the grease and that is what you want to get rid of and isn t as stinky as the denatured alcohol.
First clean with mineral spirits then wipe it down with a rag that is moistened with clean fresh water.
Make sure you clean both sides of the doors and drawers and all the nooks and crannies of the frames.
Instead prepare your own gentle cleaner.
